The Munttoren (Mint Tower)

Coin-operated tower located in the eponymous square in the heart of Amsterdam. This unique historical and architectural monument has long been a hallmark of the capital of the Netherlands. The tower was erected in the years 1480-1487. Originally, it was a whole complex of the city gates, guardhouse and two guard towers. During a fire in 1618 severely damaged the structure. Leaving only a truncated tower, which was later rebuilt in Renaissance style and is decorated octagonal superstructure. On the spire of the tower clock was installed with four dials. The project belonged to the architect Hendrick de Keyser.
