Amsterdam Botanical Garden (Ortus Botanicus)

Amsterdam Botanical Garden is one of the oldest botanical gardens in the world. It was opened in 1638 and originally served as a place for the cultivation of medicinal plants.

Gradually replenished with new collection of garden plants. So botanical garden was opened to visitors, who dismantled the exotic varieties of trees and shrubs, Dutch explorers brought back from their travels.

The real highlight of this garden is considered the Palm House. This structure was built of metal and glass. Within its walls you can see the amazing palm tree, whose age is more than four hundred years. You can also visit the Butterfly House, a cafe or a shop where you can buy not only the seeds or seedlings, but also garden gifts - chocolate, coffee, honey and much more.

Getting to Amsterdam Botanic Garden are on city tram number 9 and 14, it is necessary to go to the bus stop Visserplein. And also on the subway: № 51, 53 or 54 - to stop Waterlooplein.
