Windmill De Noord
The height of the mill Nord is 33.3 meters. It is the tallest windmill in the world. It is believed that it was built in 1400 and then was still made of wood. And in 1707 it was replaced by a stone. Initially it was used for the preparation of animal feed. In 1930, it was installed inside the diesel engine, which can now be seen on Gravelandseweg. Then it was used in calm weather. During the war, the Germans used as a lookout point Nord. In 1955, the city bought the building of the municipality.
Today the building houses a restaurant with summer terrace, open to the public. There you can enjoy a wonderful dinner or a tasty lunch.
Stone windmill Nord - one of the most famous in the Netherlands. It is located in Schiedam almost at the intersection Noordvest and Noordmolenstraat.
