Windmill De Walvisch
Valvish mill was built in 1794 from stone. It received its name because of the whaling industry, which flourished in the late 18th century. Initially, the mill crushed grain for making gin. In the 30 years of the 20th century, there was conducted magnesium production for medicinal purposes.
Over its history, the mill was repeatedly subjected to the influence of the weather. In 1970 he established a completely new roof and the upper mill wheel. It was only in 1999, the building has been completely restored.
Today Valvish is the current mill, and on its ground floor is open shop where you can buy your own flour mill, as well as fragrant biscuits and other goodies.
Mill Valvish, like some other mills of Schiedam, located along the canal in New Haven.
